The Charioteer (Auriga)
Magnitude: 0.08 · Nature: Mercury-Mars
Origin: Latin — Capella (Little Goat)
It is the diminutive form of the Latin 'capra' (goat). It represents the goat carried on the Charioteer's shoulder. This goat is the goat Amalthea who nursed Zeus as an infant.

Capella is a star of independent thinking, curiosity, and research. Its Mercury-Mars nature combines mental sharpness with courage. Capella gives the person in contact with it an unconventional curiosity, a passion for research, and intellectual courage. The process of acquiring knowledge does not fit academic molds; learning through discovery and adventure is more relevant. Due to its distant position from the ecliptic (22.9 degrees ecliptic latitude), conjunction partly relies on projection.
Capella represents the goat Amalthea who nursed the infant Zeus. According to legend, Zeus's mother Rhea hid her son in a cave in Crete to protect him from his father Kronos. There, the goat Amalthea nursed Zeus with milk. When Zeus ascended to the throne, he placed Amalthea in the sky out of gratitude. From the goat's broken horn, the horn of plenty (cornucopia) emerged. This myth associates Capella with nourishment, protection, and abundance. In Arab astronomy, Capella was known as al-'Ayyuq and served as an important reference point in maritime and agricultural calendars.
