Eclipses in 2028

The eclipses of the year are: January 12, Partial Lunar Eclipse in Cancer; January 26, Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius; July 6, Partial Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn; July 22, Total Solar Eclipse in Cancer; December 31, Total Lunar Eclipse in Cancer. Unlike ordinary new and full moons, eclipses occur near the Moon's nodes; in the classical tradition their effects are considered longer lasting. Rows with a purple background mark eclipses in the table.

Supermoons and Blue Moons

The year has 2 supermoon full moons (February 10, March 11). A supermoon occurs when the full moon coincides with the Moon's closest approach to Earth, making it noticeably larger and brighter. A Blue Moon (a second full moon in the same calendar month) falls on December 31.

New and full moon moments are when the longitudinal separation between Moon and Sun is exactly 0° and 180°. Sign and degree give the Moon's tropical position at that instant. For the live calendar, eclipse markers and commentary on each lunation see the New Moon and Full Moon calendar. Void of course hours are on a separate page: 2028 Void of Course Moon calendar.
