Etymology

Origin: Arabic — Akhir al-Nahr (End of the River)

Named for its position at the southernmost tip of the Eridanus (River) constellation.

A brilliant blue-white star at the southernmost tip of the Eridanus constellation. It is one of the fastest-spinning stars known.

The place where he fell became the river Eridanus, which was then elevated to the sky.
